A degree in the arts also known as "Reasons for Graduate Study," the "Statement of Purpose" This should explain your research interests in Germanic Studies and be between one and three paragraphs long.

GRE results. The oldest possible score is five years. If they want to be considered for financial aid from the German Dept., all applicants must take the GRE. If international applicants are excluded from taking the TOEFL, they should take the GRE exam instead.

A curriculum vitae or a résumé. This should list any academic accolades, awards, qualifications for teaching, and any publications you may have produced.

Scores on the TOEFL or IELTS. Every applicant who did not have their undergraduate education in English or whose native language is not English must submit their English proficiency test results. If your score is older than two years from the beginning of your admission period, it will not be accepted. Candidates are not exempt from this criterion based on their country of citizenship. The criteria for satisfying this requirement depend on the language of teaching at the college or university level and how recently it has been provided.

At the undergraduate institution, only English is taught in classes.

They have a degree from an American college or university that has received regional accreditation during the last five years of the projected semester of attendance.

They have not more than five years prior to the anticipated semester of enrollment, completed at least two full-time semesters of graded course work, excluding ESL courses, at a college or university in the United States or at a facility outside the United States where English is the only language of instruction.
