1. Germany provides free education for students aged six to eighteen.
2. Children may enrol in kindergarten from ages 3 to 6.
3. Elementary school, or Grundschule, is required from Grades 1 to 4.
4. Students enrol in one of the three types of secondary schools based on the advice of their elementary school teachers, their academic aptitude, and their parents’ preferences.
